Appetizer Houses 6:00 – 8:00
David and Nancy MacLeod, 1085 Forrest Blvd
The MacLeod’s have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years. For two years, we lived on Walker Drive and then in 1985, we purchased the house on Forrest. We raised three daughters in the little house on Forrest Blvd along with numerous cats, one dog, two ferrets, and two squirrels that fell out of the oak tree in the driveway. At this time, our only pets are two cats – Rosie and Rascal. David is a psychotherapist in Decatur and Nancy is a housing counselor/paralegal at Atlanta Legal Aid Society. Until recently, we had done any needed work on the house ourselves. However, there was never enough time to tackle big projects. So, last November, we bit the bullet, hired contractors, and embarked on a whole house renovation. The renovation work is complete and we would be happy to show it off. So, please drop by during the Holiday Progressive!
Brooke Doan, 985 N. Carter
Subjecting my real estate friend to constant complaining coupled with the price of gas and a long commute FINALLY landed me in Camelot. I found the “Margi Gras” house in late summer of 2012. She tried to talk me out of it; the overgrown yard, the broken windows, the copper torn out of the basement, the electrical work (shall I go on?). But I took one look at the fireplace and that little window that looks out at Kate’s house and I was smitten. “She has good bones” I said to my friend. So the work began. The flora and fauna were removed (Thanks John!), the kitchen was gutted, a new electrical panel was installed, new roof, and finally every surface of the house was painted. Yes, even the yellow and purple. Other than those things, not too much needed to be done. I moved in on March 1st of this year. Next year’s plan is to renovate the bathroom and maybe, just maybe, finish out the basement. This neighborhood has landed me 7 miles from my office where I am the Marketing Manager and Cultural Champion for a privately owned bakery. It’s taken me almost 30 years to live in Decatur and I’m happy to be where I am. Oh, and by the way, I have the best cat in the world – Lacey, she belongs to Kate!

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ — Brooke’s place is next door to the dessert house. Please plan your night so that some of you actually go to her house first….otherwise there will be a very big crowd at both houses if everyone hits Brooke’s last and the MacLeods first. Fyi, it is a .4 mile walk
